Help explain what I’m seeing

Ok I received my lucky portable fish finder today. Didn’t come with much instructions. Help explain the bottom to me with the yellow, red and blue. I’m assuming it’s the hardness of the bottom or trash?? Even though this is a cheaper one it’s much more advanced then the old one we use to have.

Dave .... is that an actual recording being played back, or is that simulator mode ??

I'm thinking simulator mode, which is likely to give you the best images because they're probably computer generated & not actual recordings in the simulator program. With that in mind, I'd say the green is bottom cover (brush, weeds, etc.) and the yellow indicates bottom hardness. Normally speaking, the yellow indicates a soft object & red indicates a hard object. With that in mind, I'd say the dark blue is just no signal return being detected.

Now, I could be totally wrong ... but if that depth finder is supposed to be in any way similar in its coloration, like most other color 2d depth finders, then that would be my best guess. I have no experience with color 2d units, as I went straight from b/w 2d units to color DI units .... and even though my latest unit (Hook 7) has DI & 2d capabilities, I always run it on DI.

Thanks for the reply. Yes I have it on simulation mode for training but images supposed to be same in real. I was sort of thinking along those lines about the color and it makes sense.

Now how all those flipped images are still attached is beyond me, I’m pretty sure I deleted them all trying to get one posted in correct rotation.....lol

Yeah, once you "attach" an image it don't wanna go away :Doh: .... I used to just copy my message text and delete the post, then start over with the photo that's in the correct orientation. Now I just go to the Test Forum and post the pic .... then copy/paste IT to the post I'm using it on. Didn't have to do all that with my previous phone, because it had a old version of the Tapatalk app & Crappie.com app .... now that I have a new phone, all the app updates make it so I have to take pics with the phone turned to my right in order for them to come out straight up when posted.
It don't matter how I jack the photo around, on the computer, it won't come out right unless I took the pic with the top of my phone pointing to my right. It has something to do with the site not recognizing the orientation code and tries to "correct" the orientation of the pic, by turning it 1/4 turn to the left. Many others, with the latest updates on their apps, are having to do the same.
