Need Some Advice on Solix 12 SI Mosaic
I spent some time recently recording several Humminbird Solix 12 Mosaics SI. I also used Autochart to record the charting as well. My goal is to record river/creek channels where I know crappie will be traveling in Fall and Spring.
After following the creek bed recording for a couple of hundred yards, the mosaic disappeared and then showed up recording again. In the picture below, on the right hand side, you will see where it cuts the picture at an angle. That is where it stopped recording. I started recording every couple of hundred yards, but my goal is to have one recording of the channel in a cove.
I have read the manual, but all it states is to record at the end. I have two theories: (1) I can only record a small section at a time or (2) the memory chip for the Solix screen has a limited amount of memory, but will still let me record one large file. Do any of you guys have some advice for me on how long I can record?
I love the ability to take LakeMaster with the pink line for the creek channel, then save my own Autochart map on top of it using a Zeroline card. Then I can layer the SI with Mosaic on top of the other two layers. Using the slide bar, I can adjust the amount of visibility from each layer and gives me a very powerful tool for finding crappie "hotels" along their "highways". The image below is full 100% Mosaic. It was later in the day that I adjusted the slide bar. I have the "shallow water" set at 12'--this is the reason you see so much red. Because of the thermocline, we were fishing water 12' or more deep. The place I am recording is where I will fish in October and March.
