Checking out The Crappie Drop Buckets.

Made some Crappie Drop Buckets.Rocks in bottom of bucket to sink.
5 Gal Buckets,scrap water hose.
Got to the Drop Spot around Daylight. Started out with my normal Med lite Rod,4 lb Test, Slab Sauce.
After about 100 casts had 2 keeper crappie.Switched to my lite action Rod,2 lb Test G-Sauce Kaboom Game on left them biting kept a mess to eat,Keeping 10 to eat.Just to test the Lite action 2 lb Test. Switched back to the 4 lb Med lite nothing not a bite.Switch to the 2 lb test Berkely Vanish Kaboom.Game on.Just when you think you have these fish figured out.Not!![emoji1]

Have Dropped several dozen of these buckets in places we have caught fish over the years.don't always catch fish off of them but gives us a place to start each fishing trip instead of hunting all over the lake trying to find a school.
Five Gallon buckets,old leaking garden hose,everybody got some laying around.Take a couple each time out before you know it have a good little milk run.good fishing "KEEP WHAT YOU CAN USE RELEASE THE REST"Good fishing.

Great idea.Would be easy to stack a couple and make it taller if one wanted too.Thanks for sharing the idea.

Nice report and cool idea. Now to the crappie bite, what do you beleive was the most important reason for the better bite. The lite action rod (more details please), the 2lb test or the slab sauce. Been tempted to try some 2lb test but concerned about breaking off bigger fish, guess that's where the lite action rod comes into play. Thanks,

Nice catch. Sounds like lighter line and a lighter rod are the ticket for you. Around here I think I would miss a lot of bites without an ultra light rod and hi vis line. Sometimes all I have for a bite is I see my line move sideways in the water. Anything heavier than an ultra light rod and I am not sure I would catch much at all.

Roy, I'd like to tell my opinion if it's not hijacking Jackies post. I've found that the combination of the smaller jig head and the lighter line will generate strikes when the bite on the bigger bait has faded. The flouro helps some too, but I have good success with clear blue Stren also. The Slab Sauce helps anytime and is a worth it investment. Patience with the lighter jigs is also important, it just takes them longer to do what the others do. Good luck to you, and a good drag takes the stress out of the lighter line.

My Opinion.All three not very much Difference in line Dia.2 lb vs 4 lb Berkley vanish.The Fluocarbon and the Lite action was allowing me to feel the lite biting crappie.The G-sauce was allowing the crappie to hold on longer allowing me to feel the Bite.My Two cents.

Thanks Skeet for your input. Thru the years I've gone from small lightweight jigs up to now 1/8oz. Might be time to downsize again if I decide to give 2lb test a try. I see the rod in the picture a Nanoace is a med lite rod, is that correct? Guess I'm going to have to break down and give the slab sauce a try, lots of positive reviews on here from some very good fisherman.

The Flourcarbon gives this Bassfishermen want to be crappie fishermen still learning confidence.
