Pulling Cranks on the REZ??

First of all, I'm new here, although I have been watching and reading the forum off and on for a year or so. Until now, I only crappie fished from Oct-March, and then stayed away from the crowds. I recently got a boat back in my life, as the birth of my daughter postponed those plans a couple of years.

My question, does anyone pull cranks successfully on Barnett? Not looking for anyone's honey hole, just some general areas or things to look for? I have started pulling some and, to be honest, it was complicated until I got my cranks/depths/line out figured out, then learning how to turn the boat. LOL Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated. I have pulled some and caught a few, but no rhyme or reason as to why they were there.

it can be done successfully at barrnett. i tend to do a little better this time of year jigging deep structure but the river channel of from roses bluff is about the only place ive ever pulled crankbaits. your going to hook pleanty of catfish and the occasional stripper when you do it. i would recommend fishing that part of the lake during the week. on weekends esp. if the weather's sunny there will be an armada of jet skies and pleasure boaters that know how to drive a boat about like i can fly the space shuttle.

Thank you for the tips Murdok. I have already been there, done that on the sunny days with the jet skis. The wife and kids like to go over there and hang out and swim with some other families we know with Pontoons. And you are correct, many of those people can't spell boat, much less know how to drive one. Scary thing is, those are tho same people that are driving cars around us everyday. I have tried pulling in several different areas, and several times around the Roses Bluff area with no luck. Only seem to catch catfish and a few crappie scattered around, but not enough to speak of. I'm gonna keep at it and hopefully run into some soon. Haven't been able to find the stripers in a month. Almost like they disappeared. I'll just keep goofing around, hopefully luck up on some crappie until Sept when the Stripers start schooling again so I can take the wife and kids to get their string stretched.

Wouldn’t mind hooking a stripper occasionally. Lol, jk.

It's hit or miss on Barnett. I went 2 weeks ago and did good and went this past Saturday, only caught 1. You really have to know where to go on Barnett. It's not like the COE lakes, my dog can catch fish on them

I've heard its pretty easy to catch them on the "north" lakes. I have tried pulling on Barnett about 6 or 7 trips (3-6) hours each trip. Spent a lot of time eliminating water. Caught 6 one trip, 18 one trip (only took 7 hours and dead batteries, LOL) , and 2 another. Definitely need to spend more time graphing and exploring to find some more areas to try. I have noticed that you don't catch any little fish doing this. My avg on the few I have caught is in the 12-14" range. Guess its just going to take a lot more practice and eliminating water. Half the time I am fishing alone, so holler if you want to join me.

I EVEN TRIED IT THE OTHER DAY . IT SEEMS WITH ALL THEM HOOKS OUT YOU WOULD SNAG ONE AT LEAST . THAT WAS MY FIRST TIME TO PULL CRANKS . DIDN'T CATCH NOTHING . PULLED OUT THE JIG POLES AND CAUGHT 7 WEDNESDAY . JUST WENT JIGGING THURSDAY GOT THERE AFTER 12 AND CAUGHT 8 YESTERDAY . I KNOW YOU CAN ELIMINATE A LOT OF AREA . SEE YA ON THE WATER .
