Hey guys! Have a question for those who may have jad some experience in this issue. I have an opportunity to by a 92 Lowe deep V , but they have no title. They will do a noterized bill of sale. Is it alot of trouble to get a title with a noterized bill of sale?

In NC on the boat registration it will have a Y or N as to if the boat has a title. If not titled Notary bill of sale is needed.
Ok. So a boat doesnt have to be titled as long as you have a noterized bill of sale? Also how would i have to go about getting a title for it?Quote:

Go to your local license plate office and they will hook you up. Take your notarized bill of sale and then you can have them do your paper work I just did this last week

I was told by a gent that if the previous owner is out of state it could be a lengthy process.
Trailer is different than a boat.
The owner is in NC also.

The trailer is a different story. Make sure you have the title to the trailer and make sure both of you sign it and make sure it is notarized and you will have to pay for the taxes on it before they will issue a tag

For the boat you will go to a wildlife agent who sells the registration stickers. They will handle your boat title there. When you set it up in your name you will be required to title it as all transactions moving forward require a title. Since it is an older boat it probably has not been titled. If sold in the last 5 years or so it should have a title out there. If it ever has had a lien on it (someone took out a loan on it) there is a title floating around somewhere. Do your homework prior to purchasing as it can get messy if it has been sold several times with the paperwork not being made right each time. I wouldn't buy it if they can't produce the paperwork. It's actually illegal to sell it without the proper paperwork.
