Hey guys,
Im visiting a friend this weekend in Wetumpka and were renting kayaks to float down the coosa below Jordan Dam. They are flowing 8000 cfs Saturday. I was hoping to fish a little on our trip. With all the rocks and current I was planning on trying to catch some spotted bass and maybe a crappie. Whats the fishing like down there? Any tips are appreciated.

I dont fish for em but that float is supposed to be great for spotted bass. Good bit of slack water to fish. Good luck!
Never floated the water but I have fish creeks and rivers like it. I like a zoom fluke on a 1/4oz jig head. Just let it tic down the rocks. Those spots will set behind the rocks and ambush anything that goes by.

Spook or spook Jr early I have heard from my sources
Jerk baits, rooster tails work bringing back through the eddys. Can pitch worms around too. Topwater does good early. There petty of good fishing on that stretch.

Awesome info guys thank you! We wont be able to get out there too early. Were renting Yaks from CoosaRiverAdventures and we launch at 9.
That was a fun kayak trip. The fishing was not as great as I had hoped for. Fished mainly with ned rigs/ trick worms. I accidentally left my small tackle box that had a spook and small crank baits in it :banghead... I started using a rooster tail towards the end of the kayak trip and caught three 12" spotted bass and a few bream. Ill be doing that next time!

Glad you had a good trip, a good rule of thumb is beetle spins and rooster tails should always be in the tackle box when paddling small creeks.
