I am so spoiled!

I am so spoiled from eating gills and crappie,I can no longer stomach the other species of fish I have in my freezer. I thought it was just my taste buds,but it has had an affect on my whole family.
Try as I might,I can't seem to cover up the over fishy flavor of namely the trout I have caught.None of the trout fillets are over a few months old and are vacuum sealed,yet they seem to gain in fishy flavor each time we fix some.
I'm gonna blame the sweet flavor of crappie and gills for spoiling our taste,I'm gonna be a little upset if it affects my taste for catfish!:banghead:banghead

I gave away all the Walleye fillets I caught last year, and also prefer Gills and Crappie to all other finned table fare. Never been a fan of whisker fish, wild or pond raised but do enjoy the pull on the other end of the line.

I started back eating catfish after thirty years,last year . Actually as much as I like crappie , red ear is taking over at my house .

My family and I are also pretty picky when it comes to eating fish. None of us will eat any strong tasting "fishy" species. When we run out of crappie, I found that less desirable (to Us) fish like white bass or catfish can be very good if they are cleaned right and eaten fresh. I remove ALL dark meat that is found next to the skin, and cut out the stuff that goes deeper along the lateral line (fillet is in 2 pieces after this is done). Do not freeze the meat. If it cannot be eaten in a reasonable time, I give it away. After freezing, even after careful cleaning, you will get a strong tasting piece. Better to not run out of crappie, but hey, some years are tougher than others!

I'll eat it all with crappie, gills and blue cat hovering at the top. But whiting just out of the ocean...it's tough to top that for me!

Am Blessed our home lake has walleye,Crappie,Bream,Spotted bass,smallmouth,catfish,trout.We eat crappie once a week.We are blessed.

Make sure all dark red meat is removed before freezing. Also you can soak them for a few hours in milk then rinse them real well before frying. Also lemon juice helps. Or just give them to a food bank that takes them.

Yep same problem here , we used to eat all the fish .....but not now for sure
