Cranking North Breeze Crappies Today!
Finally, hot weather breaks and got a 5-10 mph north breeze and when launched this morning it was 71, overcast and very few fishing boats at 6:30 am. Hit a spot in 6 to 12 ft of water down a bank, with crankbaits and electronics weren’t showing any fish but did manage one dink. Move out to main lake creek channel and channel was loaded with bait balls and fish. I ran the PICOs 1.8 to 2.0 mph with 25’ to 45’ of line staggered out in 12 to 16’ of water as water temp was cracking 87 degrees. Caught 30-40 fish keeping 7 for a meal tonite as I have a bunch in the freezer. All keepers 11” to one that did scratch 13”. Got off the lake by 10:30 am as the pleasure boaters and jet skis were taking over. Great cool morning to enjoy a bit of fishing. I will post a few pics of the structure I found fish on that I ran cranks over. Best colors of PICOs today, orange on bone, pink, and mud bug.
