Toledo bend 6-29 & 30-2018
Left friday at 1:00 and checked in at 4:30. On the water by 5:15, and off at 8:30, empty handed. We tried the bridge pilings, tried docks, tried trees. Nada all we caught was a small striped bass that we released. So we go buy 1/2 pound of shiners for the morning before turning in for the night. So saturday on the water for 6 am , to the pilings and all we got were light strikes and empty hooks. We went from one to another for about an hour with no luck. We tried to find some other areas with brush piles but the wind was killing us. By 11 we headed back to the bridge to find a lot of other people there. All of whick said they werent having any luck and we believed them. After fishing another 1/2 hour on one set, a few boats moved and we took their spot. The first drop my dad made he hooked up with one. The biggest he had ever caught. Only caught 2 more medium sized ones there so as people left we moved closer to the channel. Wound up only catching one more sac and a flathead catfish to keep. I tried dropshot rigging about 3 ft off the bottom in 24' of water and got one of the sacs and the cat fish. I caught some smaller bream doing that also but we released them. We probably will make another trip back there but not anytime soon. Maybe in march next year.
Here is what made the trip worth it. 15" slab 1.45lbs
