My 1st time to a beautiful lake, Turkey Creek Lake , about 12 miles South of Winnsboro, La. It's full of giant cypress trees, laydowns , stumps, brush, and reportedly, sacalait. Unfortunately, I didn't catch many. only 3. but I did manage to take a few pictures. Anybody have any success there?

That's a good looking lake. I googled it and your half way up in the nose blead section of the state. You put some miles on those trailer tires.
Yes, I think about that. Good thing they are new. I also grease bearings regularly. Perhaps I'll buy a small boat to keep up there.Quote:

I fished it a couple of times around 10-12 years ago. Caught a few fish but they were huge! I fished it in the winter and everyone there was fishing at the bridge (which hasn't got enough room for all the people). I ended up with about 15 each trip, but I also moved around a good bit searching. Everyone there said you can't catch them anywhere else on the lake and no other time of the year. I don't believe that, but I also couldn't find them anywhere else on the lake. A lot of it is shallow, but it does have a good channel down to the dam. I believe it was 24 ft deep from the bridge to the dam.
The lake is full of underwater tops usually in 8 or 9 fow in and around the cypresses. The bridge is good at times if you don't mind the crowd. Kings landing is usually where I put in and most that I catch are out in front of the ramp about 3/4 across the lake.

It's a beautiful lake, full of big crappie and bigger gators....
I've done well on big stumps or tops that were cover in hyacinth. I've also heard they set up shallow in the shade of the trees in the heat of the day.
