I kind of like the idea. It makes me wonder if it would work for the big shellcracker if you used red worms or crawlers in this manner. Actually, I think it would work better for bluegill because the bait doesn't have to stay in contact with the bottom like it does when redear fishing.
you guys are gonna hurt yourself trying to keep up with all them poles lol, I find it hard to keep up with two poles little lone spider style but best of luck.
Coach, I do that all the time. I use a 2 jig set up with a 1/32 on the bottom and a 1/64 above. I use nibbles and slow troll close to good bream structure. I do this t catch a quick meal or have my wife with me.
I've talked to one of my fishing buddies about us trying it on a bed. If we could keep up with 8 poles it would be some kind of fun.
I use a fly rod or ultra-lite on the bed but trying to cover more water(especially deep ) in a reduced amount of time .
Been doing it awhile now works great on these hot days but it’s awesome in the dead of winter
Never tried it, but it ought to work. Me and my dad used to do a version of long lining with 1/32 oz spin beetles to find the bream. Once found we'd go after them with crickets, but we'd troll the spin beetles to find them and it worked.
I use a similar technique mid summer until mid fall when I'm looking for bluegill. I use 3 12ft crappie hunter rods with double rigged size 8 Aberdeen hooks a foot apart with a 1/2 oz. bell sinker below. Tip the top hook with a cricket and bottom with red worm or piece of night crawler. 3 rods out the front are easy to manage out the front of my very old sportsman II with my Minn Kota Endura 30 at very slow speed. On a good day I'll locate some nice ones then stop and pick up a few then move until the next good hit.
