Sometimes the directions are wrong

Last week I dug out the Ole handy Bass Pro Catalog. I had been looking locally for a tilt & Trim switch for the back of the Boat. The new switch was delivered by the Postman a day early, and only was $35 with the discount. Purple wire to power, said it was RED--- Power is White ... Green wire to Green for DOWN --- Wrong again,, the motor went up .... I always check things before the wires are Crimped into the splice... Green now goes to Brown that the Directions said was UP is DOWN on my boat.. The last wire Brown tied into Green on the Boat --- Everything works perfect .. Crimp all the wire connectors .. Happy as a Clam --.. The Wife was Recruited to get it ordered and Pay Pal she is so handy

Usually the wire colors are there for reference to the motor harness. When I wired mine I used a multimeter to test which went to that motor wire. Having one near the motor is a necessity. I use a transom saver and the $35 was worth every penny for that alone.

What I like about the Transom Switch is the switch is rated for 50Amps, the lower power needed for the switch means the switch will not arc to later become a bad switch. Water can not get in it as it is sealed is a plus. My Brothers Yamaha had the Tilt built into his motor - when the Tilt was used it flexed the Transom and he had to use the Saver as well .. All the flex made his boat leak all the time the Boat was in the water. Mine , the trim unit makes the whole transom stronger and does not flex or leak. By it setting the motor back A side Scan unit can be mounted without the motor being in the way
