Murray Crappie Crackin' 6/3/18
This past weekend was another weekend with no plans to fish. Not that I didn't want to go, but the weekend's schedule didn't look too promising for a lake outing. That was until I received a phone call from my brother in law Saturday night. He wanted to fish Sunday morning and it didn't take much to twist my arm...I mean, the boat was already hooked up to the old truck and the batteries were charged. Plans were made and off to bed I went.
The alarm went off and I jumped out of bed like a kid on Christmas morning. It wasn't long before I was off to pick up my partner. After last weekend's slow trip I warned him on the way to the lake that it had been tough. I really didn't know what we'd find, but I figured it had to be better than it was. Turns out, I was right.
The water temp had rose some 2 degrees to 82 and the fish were bunched up. We fished from 8-12 and we found fish in good numbers holding around shaded cover. The best bite came from shooting docks, but several fish fell victim to the jig pole as well. Solid chartreuse Fishstalker jigs with black flakes were the bait of choice, but we also caught fish on junebug/chartreuse. It was an extremely light bite, but with a little 6th sense plenty of fish were caught. It was a great morning on the water and I'm chomping at the bit to get back on the water!!!
