I've got a friend coming into town this weekend and he wants to try to get on some bream at Wateree. I bass fish the lake regularly but I'm not very farmiliar with how to catch bream on the lake. I've done it a few times but with very little success and only very small bream. Just looking for some pointers to get us started in the right direction.

I actually spent some time this afternoon trying that exact thing. I had to scale down to a tiny hook and a small piece of a night crawler to actually put a fish in the boat. Guess I'm just looking to try to catch a slightly bigger fish.
The bream on Wateree are plentiful, but I've always considered them smallish. I usually use crickets myself. Fished under a cork around floating grass mats or around docks will produce an abundance of action.
Friendly advice that works for me. Lose the cork and try the cricket Carolina style. You will find much larger results. You may hang up a little more but it is worth a few bulls to me. Good luck! I fish a deep clear lake and this method works in the deeper water...

Ink is spot on. Been a many a year since I focused on bream but crickets were always my favorite fished around grass, docks, and woody cover. Try deeper banks for bigger fish and if you catch one work the area thoroughly. This is the spawn for them too. If you find a bed, you'll load the cooler
