cloverdale lake
not impressed with this chain of lakes......
small public launch that will hold maybe 7-8 trailers , no dock , very shallow launch (needed to back the truck nearly all the way into the lake before the boat would float off the trailer) and absolute morons that cannot read a sign that says "NO PARKING , KEEP LAUNCH CLEAR"
had to jimmy my trailer all around just to be able to get the boat launched....idiots.
anyway , fishing.. tried each of the first two lakes , nothing but smallish gills on the first and one small crappie.
second lake , I found a big laydown tree loaded with crappie , caught over 30.....only one was big enough too keep and she wet back to grow.
used both minnow and jigs, every cast would get a hit.
I did see some gills in the shallows and very few looked to be over 7 inches.
this lake I will be crossing off my list.
and it is too bad as my brother just bought property that has access to the lake, oh well.

Thanks for the info John. Brian has been looking at Lake homes in this area and it was one on our list to try. Now I don't have to.

Been to a few lakes like that, some good and some not,at least you tried

long lake , right before cloverdale , is a decent lake for both crappie and gills.
no giants , but lots of gills in the 7 1/2- 8 inch range , and plenty of 10 -11 inch crappie

Look at Wall Lake for a lake home. Private and under fished. It has some nice fish in it, 30"+ pike, 24"(?) bass, 14" crappie and nice gills. Don't ask how I know.

John, He actually has an offer in on two houses over on Long. They sit side by side. He wants them both. One as a main house, one as a rental.
