Single poling question

I’ve noticed something and it may just be a fluke, but I wanted to see if it’s something anyone else has seen. I single pole nearly 100% of the time and most of the fish I catch on the tenn tom are white crappie. When I’m catching them I’m nearly dead sticking my jig. Very little action. The quiver from my hand through my jig pole imparts enough action to do the job. When I’m fishing the pearl river I catch a lot of black crappie and what I’ve noticed is that I will often times have to really pop my jig to get them to hit. I mean like an 8-12 inch snatch. Is there something to this? Maybe it’s got to do with what they prefer to eat.

I'm certainly not an authority on single poling although that is how I originally learned to crappie fish. I would think that black crappie are much more prevalent on the upper Pearl than the Tenn Tom. Can't explain the action of the jig though, maybe you are on to something. Who knows? Do you catch black crappie on the tenn tom using the same technique?

I catch both white and black crappie in both places. I haven’t noticed any difference on the Tenn Tom, but again I know I’ll mostly be catching white crappie. There are certainly more black crappie in the old lakes off the Pearl. I know the two have a little bit of a different diet. Everything I’ve read says the white crappie generally prefer baitfish and black crappie will eat more water bugs, crawfish, etc. All I can figure is the the More aggressive jigging resembles some kind of water critter other than a shiner or Shad. I’ll have to test my theory out a little more. Maybe it’ll get a few more fish in the boat.

I FISH THE REZ MOST ALL THE TIME AND I THINK THERE IS A TIME FOR BOTH . CATCH BOTH BLACK AND WHITE ON THE LAKE . I KNOW THE BLACKS ARE WAY MORE AGGRESSIVE THAN THE WHITE . I KNOW SOMETIME THEY WANT IT AS STILL AS YOU CAN HOLD IT AND OTHER THEY WANT A LITTLE MOVEMENT UP AND DOWN WITH THE JIG . IT IS A GAME THEY PLAY WITH US . SOMETHING DIFFERENT EVERY TIME . JUST LIKE THE DEPTH . EVERYDAY IS A DIFFERENT TRIP . CRAPPIE FISHING WILL DRIVE YOU CRAZY . IT IS A CHALLENGE ALL THE TIME . THE COVER HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH IT TOO . HAVE GOOD DAY FISHING AND IF YOU FIGURE IT OUT LET ME KNOW .

Who can think like a fish? My two cents is sometimes they hit it because they're hungry. Others because mad. Different times of year. You should know males and females act different also. :)

The females hit better when they have eggs. Must be a hormone thing...

I know blacks seem to be more aggressive on their bites when the fish are slow. I also know that they are a helluva lot tougher than the white crappie.
I can have 15 whites and 5 blacks in the live well when I leave the lake. I’ll plug the live well and go home to clean them and all the whites will have died and all the blacks are still as mean as ever.

LIKE BREAM . THEY ARE BUILT MORE LIKE A BREAM THAN A WHITE AND THE MEAT IS A DIFFERENT SHADE WHEN YOU FILET THEN . THEY ALL TASTE GOOD THOUGH .
