Heading to Monroe Saturday, going to try the pine grove area or maybe middle fork. With the weather as goofy as it has been im trying to figure out to fish deeper in 12-15 fow or maybe shallower in 5 fow. Any luck over that ways on monroe?
Ill post pics if we catch anything worthy.
Rubes, with all this warm weather, you might find them in the flooded brush and trees as I haven’t tried Monroe yet and was thinking of hitting it this weekend. If you don’t connect there, then go 8-14 ft deep as that has been my pattern as they hadn’t moved up yet. Don’t know what this coming rain will do to the water as it was clearing up and could get muddy again. Monroe is dropping 0.7 or so per day with the release of water and if you launch at Cutright they were using the high water ramp as Cutright was under. We lost all the buck brush around Pine Grove that we used to fish, but plenty of cover with high water still. Middle Fork, be sure and hit Grub Point as it’s always good for a fish or 2 in high water. 4 yrs ago I picked up a 17.5” Crappie off it fishing deeper as a few stumps across Creek channel from it on north side of channel and fish hit a road runner with chartreuse tube injected with crappie nibbles. There are still a pig or two to be had if you get lucky. That fish came out of deep water and was loaded with eggs. Give us a report if you get a chance.
Had some luck out on Monroe Saturday, they definitely were in spawn mode up the north fork. They were shallow and holding on to brush and structure like trees coming out of the water. Had to sort through a lot of dinks but we got some true slabs. The one im holding up is 14", 1.5lbs. Had a couple others at 13". Also caught about a 4lb wiper that was released.

Awesome! Glad you caught some. Fish are still there, you just have to work harder at Monroe for them. What kind of water temps were you finding?
Ah sorry, didnt pay too much attention to the water temps. Seemed like live minnows were the way to go though. Not much luck on artificial
