I put a GPS/Heading sensor on bow Helix (only had them onwater once). No donut or bouncing; I love it. My puck and Helix are mounted 2’ high on bow and removable.
Soon I will have a Helix on console. I was reading a conversation that BobB was a part of on a different forum talking about pucks and networking.
I have some questions
#1 When both bow and console units are on does the networked units GPS data only come from the unit with GPS/HS sensor?
You can configure the source for your GPS in network settings.
For the best accuracy you will want the GPS sensor you are using to be as close as possible to the transducer you are using in order to have the most accurate waypoints. It generally isn't as important to have the HS function at the console unit since you will normally be moving faster when at the console.
What you may be referring to is whether or not you can share the HS separate from the GPS from a single HS GPS. With the Helix series, if you want to share the HS you must also share the GPS .... The Onix and Solix units can share them separately ... so with them you could have the GPS come from one puck and the HS info come from another.
