alright guys taking off to fish tomorrow and looking for some of your thoughts. With all the rain runoff, cooler weather, water pulling, etc., how would you fish on Wheeler tomorrow? Spider rig, longlining, or single pole the shallows and lay downs? I’m not sure what to try based on the weather, water, and state of spawn for the crappies.
Any advice or thoughts appreciated.
Single pole the shallow inlets/creeks with a search lure. I plan on using a white grub starting out. Hit the creeks and shallow banks first, especially near riprap and rock where it's warmed up. Slow slow slow roll. Keep casting different colors till you find what works. That's my plan at least.
You fishing lower lake or Decatur area?

I would spider rig in limestone bay or flint. Starting in 6-7 FOW then moving shallower until I found them then target that depth.
Never fished their but if those methods don’t work try long linning 5-10’ flats double 1/32 hope you find em !

I fished Guntersville yesterday afternoon and fished tree tops in 2-8 FOW and caught exactly one crappie while doing that. Those same trees had fish on them a week ago. I moved out and caught some longlining circles in 8-10 FOW around a large sunken island. Nothing big. I'm going again tomorrow and my plan is to scan creek channels closer to the river channel and see if they've pulled back out. The cold weather snap we just had might have pushed them out of the shallows for a few days or maybe the black crappie are done. I don't know.
Not Wheeler, but similar....
I don't fish wheeler but I've been catching fish at all depths. With the crazy weather seems the fish don't know what to do. I caught fish yesterday in 6ft on brush and 30ft on docks so just try a little bit of everything. Don't get hung up on one pattern, fish are every where right now.
