Finally found a bite
Fished a large private clear water lake that has some emerging weeds, scattered brush a down trees. Found some big females up warming eggs in the ends of down trees. 1/24th BG jig and white shad put them on attack. They were all 12/13 inchers easy to scare off in gin water but did get I did get 8 in the boat for a brief visit. Yesterday found them in 8 fow over weeds. Put nose of boat in wind and locked down. For 90 minutes I caught 10 to 14 inchers on jigs, beetle spins and floated minnows, love to watch the bite. Lost one at boat that was likely 16-17 when hook broke off line while I was netting her. What I get for not retieing. Bite died at noon and that ended the day. Kept 15 of the smaller eaters. Water temps from 52 to 58.

Way to go! Glad you finally connected and on a small lake. Its definitely going to be a week or longer on these larger bodies of water for warmer water as we have another freeze warning tonite and these cold nites are killing the water temps as well as fighting this high wind. Great report.
