Tuckertown 4-8-18
New to the forum, been peeking in for some time but finally joined! Did a little bank walking on Tuckertown yesterday late morning. Caught a bunch shallow last weekend, but the cold front apparently pushed most back out. Did happen accross about a dozen though off jigs, hanging tight to shallow wood. Seemed to be in little groups. Catch 2 or 3 off one spot and that would be it. Excitement for the morning was being harrased by a big largemouth, quite easily an 8 lb fish. First showed herself chasing down a smallish crappie I was reeling in. Couldn't get a hold of it and gave up after a couple attempts. Couple casts later, reeling in a pretty solid bluegill, and she didn't miss that time. Gave her a couple seconds to eat, started working her back and she spit it out. Reeling the gill back in and she ate it again! Gave her a little more opportunity (minute or so) to swallow it this time, but that didn't work either. Just shook her head at the bank and tossed the bluegill at my feet! Win some, lose some I guess! I would imagine the crappie fishing will stay pretty good for a while. These fronts keep moving them in and out, so I'm thinking the best shallow bite is still yet to come!
