Any recommendations on a lake or pond builder in northeast Missouri?
The department of conservation has good information on pond building. Make sure you have 7 acres of run off for every surface acre of water. Design your pond to be at least 8 feet deep at some point to let the fish live ok below the ice. Good luck in your search. I hope you find a good builder

The best place for advice is the NRCS (federal agency) office in your county. They have a list of contractors that do that type of work. NRCS can even cost share in certain situations. Sometimes they will recommend too large of a watershed for your pond. They build ponds to stop erosion primarily. For fishing ponds you should have 12-15 acres of watershed for every acre of water. The minimum depth is 8 feet over 25% of the pond. Getting it deeper than that is recommended. Banks should be a 3 to 1 slope to keep vegetation from becoming a nuisance. Good luck.
