Transducer Location
I will be changing my transducer for a new undecided humminbird to either a HDSI or a mega transducer Recently I have been seeing transducers mounted directly behind the motor by the drain plug.
I always thought there was turbulence there from the motor so mounted my transducer to the side in about the same spot that the one was when I bought the boat. Which location would give me the best readings. The boat is a 2006 Tracker 190 TX with the large merc 90 four stroke. Any help will be appreciated Thanks

You may (or may not) get an echo reflection from the motor mount show up in the left SI next to (and parallel) to the SI center line ...
SI reaches from the water's surface on both side to past vertical under the boat ...
Try it where it is and see ... ...

Thanks Rickie
I saw a nick on the outer cover of the transducer but no damage to the shielding or wires. Not wanting to take a chance on getting water into the cable or head I used the 3M 5200 I had left from mounting the transducer board and filled a piece of split fuel line I had laying around think it’s a little much but it’s what I had laying around.
I also have a blue sea fuse block ( 6 fuse ) for my fish finders but ran #8 wire from battery
