To be honest I know little about crappie fishing, but joined to learn what I can from you. I have been a avid bass fisherman most of my life. I recently retired and sold my bass boat, I am looking to find a crappie rig. I'm interested in a 17 ft stick steering boat with a wide bottom for stability I have a bad leg and struggle to walk in a boat that is not stable. I would like to stay with a 40 hp because I would like to fish reserves and that is the max hp allowed.
So far I like the looks of the War Eagle 754vs and the Xpress 17 or maybe even the 18. Royal makes a nice fiberglass rig also. I will be fishing Toledo bend and Rayburn also that's why I was thing maybe 18ft. I know the 40 hp will struggle more with the bigger boat but not sure how much. Maybe if some of you would comment on your boats performance and hp I could get a idea.
