:dono .... I guess you "could", but wouldn't you have to already know the position of the object and the direction of approach of your boat beforehand :scratchhead
I mean, I have screenshots of other objects ... and they don't cast any shadow. Like these two :

CrappiePappy ; Kinda like your 1st photo except the shadow angled off to the side . I saw a shot on CDC of a straight standing tree and its shadow angled off to the left from top of tree to bottom (it wasn't a limb). I looked for the shot I am talking about for 20 minutes and couldn't find it; I give up...
