I am looking at Minn Kota trolling motor's. I have noticed remanufactured units that are about $3-400 cheaper. Does anyone have experience with these? Is it worth a saving the money or should a person just bite the bullet and buy a new one.

I bought one (Terrova) thru Cabela"s three years ago. Saved about $500. Had the same warranty as a new one. Couldn't tell it from a new one. Looked like the box had never been opened. I've never any problems with it. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one.

They only have a one year warranty compared to 2 for a new one. I bought one several years ado and never had any problems with it.
Keep in mind most Minn Kota's are serviced by certified repair centers throughout the country. Most (not all) of the reconditioned motors are product that were purchased, opened up, maybe installed, and then returned to a retailer, usually a box store. Yes, some of them may have been sent back because of a defect, but many of them were returned under a store's lax return (rental) policy. If you can find one that suites your needs and you're okay with giving up a year's worth of warranty I would say go for it.
Make sure it has the ipilot version that you want. When I was looking they were all the older ipilot type.
I bought a reman powerdrive v2 about 2 years ago from Cabela's and it had the same warranty as a new one. I have been very happy with it and was able to upgrade to i-pilot with the money i saved.
They are fine, as long as you get a warranty!
I also bought a Terrova 80 from Cabelas about 5 years ago and have had no problems at all. Talked to a service center about it and they said my motor was gone over by a tech and they preferred it to one that just came off the line for that reason. But again my warranty was 1 yr. instead of 2 yrs.
I would do it again
