Made it to lake on Friday after the wife and I had spent the last week and half in the Caribbean for a little R&R. We so enjoyed the trip and sights that it made it hard to get back to reality. All the fishing reports I heard after our return were poor at best, so my feelings for success were low. The winds were up when I arrived at the lake, but I started the day long lining anyways. Trolled about 1.5 hours without a bite. Decided to switch tactics as a last ditch effort. Pulled out the jig pole and headed towards the shallows. First tree nary a bite, second a nice buck crappie. I fished the next few hours jigging grass and trees in waters 5 feet and less bagging a nice limit of crappie, a couple of bass and fliers. Turned out to be a good day even though I had to work to catch what I did.
