Chickamauga Lake 3/14/2018
Candi and I got off to a late start this afternoon and actually got on the water after the bell curve of the solunar movement, but we each caught another TARP White crappie. Mine was a 14.0", 1 lb 8 ozs and Candi caught one that was 15" and 1 lb 12 ozs. The bites were very light and the fish were stuck on the lips instead of back in the roof of the mouth as usual. The weather conditions were sunny skies, ripping current, and whipping wind that eventually was white capping.
Fish were caught on 3/32 oz jig heads in order to get the lure down to the bottom where the fish were hanging out. Current and wind would not allow the 1/16 oz jigs that we started with to get down to the fish. I scored first on a Bass Assassin Pro Tiny 2" Chicken on a Chain color and then 10 minutes later, Candi landed the 15", on a Ghastly Minnow by Bobby Garland and it was a Baby Shad 2" on 3/32 oz jig.
We left the area after missing a couple more bites, and found a little bit of relieve from the wind and in that area, I caught a 12.25" Black crappie and had another one stuck that hung up on a floating stick and the fish pulled off before we could rescue it. Then Candi caught the only short fish of the day. We released all fish. The wind got so rough that we decided to quit for the day and planned another trip tomorrow and try to make it out for the solunar movement.
