still slow at night
thought they might be up along the rocks kinda shallow at night , but was not happy to find them still out pretty deep and scattered ....61 degree water temp is what I heard and they were not playing easy to ketch ,nor were they large either ....:banghead
best fish is pictured and I only got I think 3 bites or maybe 4 and only managed 2 crappie in 2 hours of roaming the banks and docks in the dark ....maybe soon is my hopes
heard similar reports and saw similar ketches on several water bodies around ft worth as well .

Exactly. Lake Austin water temp at 62 degrees. Some being caught wearing tuxedos beyond the minimal structure as they start positioning for the spawn. Saturday outside temp was in the nineties so water may be a tad warmer. I just KNOW it will be soon. Walking around with a cane for balance but if wind dies down today or tomorrow going to give it a try.

All this water in and going out has hurt this lake big time. Made my first time out Saturday afternoon and we caught a couple good ones, but out deeper than normal. We caught more bass than crappie and only fished for bass about 10% of the time, lol! We were Punch fishing the bass and long lining the crappie.
Water has messed up our crappie now 3 years in a row!

I know what you mean about it being slow, but your catch was better than mine. I went for 5 hours this morning in everything from 40' of water to fifteen without a bite. I could see small schools and tried everything from minnows to many different colors of jigs, but no luck.

Here in the Wichita Falls area, it was slow today as well. Managed one fish. Had to keep the jig as still as humanly possible. Soft strike. Barely any fight to the fish. Air temp 35, water temp 57.

Our water temps here are over 60 degrees now, but the high moving water is not good for us as they are not use to it. The last 3 springs have been ruined to some extent with flooding! Our normal weather will give us great crappie fishing for several months, but this stinks. They turned it on good a few weeks back, but once this water hit and the gates opened, it's turned very tuff fishing for crappie. Strange thing is it doesn't seem to be messing with the bass as much.
My first experience with this water change hurting our crappie fishing was about 7 years ago when the lake got a little over what they wanted earlier than "they" wanted. So just when the crappie hit the banks I learned of them being in because I went down to test a couple new jigs and to my true surprise off my bank I got 3 in just a few minutes and the smaller was 14"! So I got all excited and about that same time the SRA dropped the lake 2 feet in 2 weeks, the crappie moved out to 9 1/2 feet of water. Normally they hang at 6 foot to 7 feet of water, but that year once at 9 1/2 feet they staid there the entire spring. They never did turn on like they can, but was still good enough, but the last 3 years has a just been tuff and I didn't even go one time last year!
