Secession/Russell trips
Last week I was able to fish Secession for a few hours. The wind got up in the teens and made it hard to fish where I wanted to but was still able to put 6 in the yak. Sorry no pics of that trip as the GoPro app crashed after downloading the videos.
Russell 3/5/18. This was a late afternoon trip from 4:30 to dark. Couldn’t believe the water temp were in the low 50’s! Talked to some guys at the ramp and knew the fishing was going to be tough. Make a 30 minute run in the kayak to the place I wanted to try and they were right, it was very slow. Caught a few small bass around some tree tops but the Crappie bite wasn’t happening. A little before dark I did find a couple goods fish on a brush pile in 12’ water. They were as dark with their spawning colors as I have seen in a few years. All the fish I caught were released on the two trips but I did tag them with my name so if y’all catch them you have to turn the loose [emoji23]
Was great to be on the water after almost a year off the water.
