Locating fish

I recently put helix megas on my boat. I have covered ALOT of water trying to find fish with not alot of luck. Water temp has been 61 to 63 degrees in most of the places I've been. Should these fish not be staged on the edge of a spawning flat? Say less than 10 ft of water? The ones I do find and are catching are in around 3 to 4 ft but there's not many of them there. 2 or 3 here and 2 or 3 there. What I've been doing is just running side and down imaging around the first ledge looking for structure that should hold them until they're ready to spit there eggs out. This strategy isn't working well for me so I thought I'd ask for yalls advice.

I would try scanning the Chanel ledges or the mouths of the bays to see what you can find! . They are some fish that are shallow and I know that the surface temp is up in some of the bays . Or was until this cold snap . I caught around 40 fish Saturday most of the bigger fish were in 8 fow on stumps and in the grass also found a lot of small fish under docks in 3-5 fow .those mega units are great I made my first trip out with mine Thursday evening but didn’t scan much but I did locate some crappie with it in 8-10 fow just off of a Chanel. Hope to learn how to use it more effectively!

I'm assuming your talking about creek channel ledges? We may need to get someone to come up here and do a seminar on these units for us lol

Yes sir creek Chanel ledges! A seminar would be great . My fishing partner lives on Neely Henry and he is real good at using electronics so hopefully we can make it out this weekend and he can school me on it!

The water was 65-66 this past weekend at Eagle Lake Mississippi. We caught our fish as did most fishermen there in 16-28 fow down 15-17’. Lots of big females caught that deep. It took 16.59 on 7 fish to win it. We had 14.29 and was only 14th. My point is fish don’t read the books. They might be where you ARENT looking. There were a few males on the bank, but the females were deep.

Right now there's fish in all stages. When water temperature hits the 60s black crappie move up to bed so that's probably some of why your seeing much in the middle range . Electronics are great but I don't use them all the time, sometimes you just have to put a jig in their and see if they there. If you catching a few you may just be looking over some to. I can go behind people a catch more because they missed most of the fish. Nothing you can do about it but spend time on the water and you will get better. Ask some of the more experienced guys if you can tag along with them and you will see what I mean. A lot of the guys on this site a experts at there techniques and most are willing to help.
