I recently went out and was throwing 1/8 oz roadrunners. I could only cast them about 15 yards at the most. Will they hit the 1/4 oz OK?

You should be able to launch a 1/8. I cast 1/32 without issue. Might need to lighten up on the line.

I don't think the weight of the Road Runner is your main problem. I cast 1/16oz jigs & Road Runners nearly that far, on average.
But, to answer your question ... consider that a 4" Crappie is quite able to take in a 1/4oz Road Runner ... so, yeah, you get it in front of them and they'll hit it.
I just bought some 1/6 rooster tails and I was curious on this as well. I figure that 10+”” inch crappie will eat #6 crappie minnows and bass minnows all day long so I don’t see why they wouldn’t eat a 2”” inch long rooster tail

You should be able to cast 1/32 & 1/16 oz. jigs (any kind) at much greater distances that what you are experiencing. What rod, reel & line size are you using? I don't think you really need to go up the 1/4 oz., but there's no really problem if you want to. Crappie will gobble them up!
Sometimes the bigger heads turn them off. I generally always throw 1/32 oz and 1/16 oz rarely throwing anything bigger. I think of the 15 or so crappie 2 1/2 lbs or bigger I have caught on roadrunner heads more than half have come on the 1/32 oz.
I use mostly 6lb Trilene easy cast on a couple rods and power pro 10 or 20 lb on a couple others. The braid will cast a little further than the mono. And occasionally use some Blakemores reel magic on the line or pure silicon. 6 to 7 ft light action rod and a 1500 series reel ( the smallest or next to smallest in most reels) . Usually Shimano or Daiwa. KEEP YOUR TWIST OUT. The Daiwa with the Ballistic spool cast good. A couple models of Shimano wrap the line a little different and they cast good too. The reel even though its small in body size you don't want too small of spool.Small reel with a good size spool.
Solid body jigs with a spear tail will throw the farthest. Less wind resistance.When you really need to reach out.
I have also caught a lot of 3 to 6lb bass on those 1/32 oz. heads and some 8 to 10 lb catfish.
You go fish a couple years with different sizes and alternate between the small and large. Then come tell us what you found. I already know the answer.
I've caught plenty on bass gear, 17lb line and 3/8oz spiller bait with #4 1/2 willow blade, so they can gobble up the big stuff. 16th oz with 6lb line on 7ft spinning rod with a pflueger president is what I use and it cast much further than I need it too.
