Hey this will be my first trip to D'Arbonne! We are coming down on the 28th and staying for 5 days staying at D'Arbonne state park. We have had lots of rain and flooding just wondering how the lake is and any other pointers on where to start and what method maybe working best. Any help is appreciated! please feel free to pm me! thanks again for any help!
Unfortunately I have not been to D'Arbonne lately. And, the weather man just predicted rain for the next 4-5 days and a lot of it. The lake will certainly be up some. Good luck!
They have the Crappie Masters there this weekend so you may not get much info till after the tourney.

I might recommend a point of contact . A guide/ pro who I met recently when he did a crappie seminar at bass pro - bossier city. That is his home lake. Steve Dana. He's very personable. He even walked through store and gave out details , tips , suggestions. Heck of a guy.

Little Darbonne Creek and Corney Creek feed the lake on the west end, they are going to be rolling and making the lake muddy. The dam is on the east end, so I would guess that the east end may be the least muddy, but that's just a guess. We are getting hammered with heavy rain right now. I hate it for you since you have planned a trip.....bad timing. The lake will be dangerous, make sure you stay in the marked channels, or you are apt to tear something up. I haven't been fishing the lake, so I really don't have any tips on where to go or what they are biting on. Like they said, there is a Crappie Master's tournament going on, so you can probably watch the pros to see if they are biting or not. Safe travel, and good luck!
P.S. One thing you might want to consider is going over to Caney Lake, it's not too far of a drive from DSP. They have been catching crappie out in front of the dam. There is a nice boat launch at the dam. Anywhere out in front of the dam, in 35-40 ft has been producing some really nice stringers. Fish are right on the bottom.

Lake should settle some by by the time you get here. Even with the lake high and muddy a lot of fish were being caught this past weekend, mostly on the flats.
