I grew up on the west side of Cincinnati so I have fished it a lot over the years. Probably 2 years ago most recently. For convenience and service, it's a great place to spend the day. They are helpful, have minnows and any other items you might want in their store, and you can rent a boat at a reasonable price. So, if you just want to catch some crappie or take a kid, it's great.
The lake is FULL of crappie. That's the good news. Bad news is they are badly stunted. You could have a 100 crappie day (which is easy to do there) and catch maybe 1-2 fish really worth eating. Most would be in the 7-8" range.
If you are looking for big crappie don't go but if you just want to get out and catch some. It's great.

I did fish Winton Woods a few years back. Much bigger lake and the average size crappie was definitely bigger. I would bring a trolling motor for the rental boat. Too big to row that lake.
Thanks. That is what I heard from someone else

I will second Mbk's post, it is a nice lake and atmosphere with a good bait shop, the kids running it definitely dont count minnows. I really like there handicapped kayak/canoe launch which is very close to the parking area. I will agree there are plenty of crappie but size is the issue, although I know people who have caught some slabs there but they are rare, also plenty of gils to keep you entertained.
Thanks
