Lake Wylie, is that you?
Spent my first 28yrs of life in Gaston Co and fished Wylie for a large part of that. Usually put in at Buster Boyd or if I wanted to stay north I used the South Point access in Belmont. Used to know Withers cove, Crowders Creek, Beaver Dam Creek, Little and Big Allison like the back of my hand. Moved to Rowan Co in 1996 and haven't fished Wylie since. We got real involved in drag racing for about 20yrs so fishing took a back seat. I have friends that carried me along at times and we recently bought a boat and have been steadily trying to get back in the saddle. I was using Google Earth the other night and I couldn't believe how much Wylie has changed. I realize that in 20yrs it should have changed but it was actually unrecognizable. Heck, all my old landmarks have either fell down or been torn down for bigger stuff to be built. Do you SC guys think Wylie is as good or even better as a Crappie fishery as it was back then?? I recently had a family member pass away and he was the main reason I got in to crappie fishing. I was remembering some of the good times we had and it got me to thinking. Just curious I reckon.

In my opinion, wylie has dropped off significantly over the years. Ive fished it since about 2000. It is still good, but not the size class ive seen in years past.
About 2006-2009ish it was at its prime. Then came the guys who night fished 5 days out of the week and but a hurting on the big fish population.
Its on a rebound now with a lot of big fish showing up again.
