Palatka, San Mateo, Dunn Creek, Crescent Lake

New to the area ... Moved from Jacksonville to San Mateo / Satsuma area and looking for assistance. I am an Old Saltwater Fisherman and attempting to learn the freshwater fishing in this area. I have read numerous posts and researched how to target and catch Crappie / Specks. So far I have been unsuccessful and getting frustrated. Anyone in the area that will be willing to help, I would be very grateful. I live on the water and also would host a fishing trip with my boat to catch this GREAT ELUSIVE AMERICAN CRAPPIE.

Crascent lake would be my starting point. Some good fish coming from there lately. Welcome from Debary.

I'm off Dunns Creek too, not an expert by any means but you have to change tactics in that area. The river/creek currents are a pain. Make sure you if you're pushing you use 14ft or 16ft poles
It's been a few weeks since I have been up, catching them on Jiffy Jig grey ghost or saltpepper tube (monkey Milk)

We ate there Tuesday night. Shrimp were great. It's closed on Monday.

I've seen it heading to Renegades but have not eaten there.

Pushing or spiderrigging from the front of your boat in open water is likely what Orion means, slowly trolling forward from 0.2-0.5mph with a quarter once weight and minnow/ jig combination, you could do this around the lily pads just don't get snagged.

Thank you for explaining this. I have always wondered when people say they're trolling from the front of the boat. Being an old saltwater fisherman trolling is always done from the back. It is absolutely gorgeous today and fixing to go get some minnows to try to catch some crappie
