Warmer weather has me turning from ice to open water. I would like to try night fishing more and want to try LED flood lights over the side of boat. Wondering if anyone is doing this and has a good light they like to use.
I am thinking something that would just clamp to side and run to battery.

You could go that way but I like the submerging led lights either white or green. They do a wonderful job drawing the bait fish in. Don't draw much current from batteries.

You can buy them lot of places. The last ones I got was at Amazon. They are very bright and won't cost you very much. They have the Green also the white. People swears by both colors.

you can make submersible lights a lot cheaper. I got green led strips on ebay and the rest at the hardware store. lot of utube vidios on making them.
I made my first trip out at night, did not have much luck but the fish have shutdown with hot temps. Thinking about trying again, do you guys sit still and anchor. I have 4 led lights mounted on a board, they shine really good on my 12' poles going out the front. They draw in bugs like crazy so I think this should work.
what is the best time to try this at night, right at dusk or go later in the night

anchor and drop lights, take a nap for about 1/2 hour, then start fishing. it takes a little while for the lights to draw bugs, bait fish and the bigger fish then come in to dine on them.
i cuise around before dark and look for fish then set up on them. i like to be off the deep weed edge at least 12fow. drop(submersible LED)light down about 4ft and wait like said. some nights you drawn minnows some nights you dont. darker moon nights seem better but not a rule. i run 2 float rods with minnows(on glow jigs) and toss a jig n twister or roadrunner on the third rod.
tip
green or blue lights above water, in the boat, dont draw as many bugs. can make white led colored with saran wrap!
