BRRRRR CCCCold .....
Those of yawl that live here in Texas know about that ridiculous fast blowing 40 mph norther that came barreling thru about lunch time yesterday . temp. dropped 25 or so degrees in a short time and wind chill hit below freezing FAST !
So I thought what the heck why not go try to freeze and try to cast in the wind , I know I will be alone and the fish might bite ...
it could happen don't you know ....:Rofl
managed around 25 fish before my hands couldn't take the cold anymore . didn't stay terribly long and it was brutal for sure . I wore 2 jackets and only that part of me could handle that wind trying to cut thru me .
still short under a float and nothing very large in the mix but sinking the float like champs for sure
about 50 50 black and white crappie and the one yella bass in the mix ...
lots where very small fish as well ...:highfive

You are a brave and dedicated man. I buttoned up the boat not knowing how cold it was gonna get. Put down the Bimini top, removed rods and gear. Now looks like it might warm up to mid 50’s so will load everything back up and try to find winter fish some more.

Too cold for these old bones up here in Okie land! I've tied all the jigs I can stand, cleaned and reloaded the reels, installed a new front unit Garmin, sorted and sorted my boat bag and go bag down to the essentials and re-read my Crappie Angler magazines from Grizzly Jig. Boats in the garage so it's ready to go when it warms up and the wind shuts down a little. Guess I'll just light the fireplace and take a nap.

you don't let much keep you in. unlike the rest of us who don't even think about it! keep on Ketchn!

Oohh yeah it for sure takes dedication to get out in adverse conditions but you usually can fish anywhere you wanna without any distractions because you'll most likely have the entire lake to yourself......
And an to of all that the feesh almost always feed well then....
Excellent catches Ketchn.....

I think you and I are the only two serious crappie anglers fishing in the freezing cold weather! Well done. I am going out on Sunday and Monday to get my chill on! Tight lines!

It ain't cold till your beard freezes solid.
Good job Ketchin, way to put a cold weather smack down on them crappie

I was using a slip bobber yesterday and it kept freezing to the line if I let it set for more than a minute. Of course the crappie are hitting so much right now that it doesn't matter much.
