Jig eye cleaner

I have always made my own tool for cleaning the paint out of a jig eye. My question is are the ones you can buy from Bass Pro worth having? I have never tried one.

My diy method is a sewing needle retracted into a mechanical pencil. Never really thought of a push pin [emoji6]

Those that you buy work good.

I use a safety pin. It fastens to my fishing vest.

I've got one of those you buy, but still use the hook point of another jig most of the time :Doh: .... and if that's not close at hand, I just use my pocket knife :biggrin

My fingertips are always bloody after a Crappie trip! I wish their was a good answer to the question!

There'a a tool called a Bodkin that is used when tying jigs and flies. It's basically a needle in a handle that's about 6 inches long. I heat it over a flame and push it through as it melts everything in it's way. Cleanest and easiest method I know of, but it does take a little fore thought. From what's been said so far, I like the push pin idea myself. One of the cool things about powder painting my own is that they don't get painted in the first place.

I usually use another jig hook but I like the push pin idea.:ThumbsUp
