What's you go to size jighead for winter cold water as were having now?(teens at night). Mine's a 1/24th. Vertical jigging.

Depends how deep I am fishing. The deeper I fish the larger the jighead I use. On lake Fork you can fish for crappie in 40 foot of water. You will never feel a 1/24 jighead in that deep of water.
This time of year I am catching 40-45 deep in 65 FOW 5/16, or 2 1/4oz jigs is my favorite.
1/8 to 25’
Tandem 1/8 to 35’ or a single 1/4.

I fished standing timber and used brush guard jigs trimmed just enough to keep me out of trouble, with weights of 1/8 or1/4. These gave a quick drop time and a thump like the rod was hit with a stick. Hope this helps.
