So so we caught about forty. I caught 12-15 of em. Using an ultra lite. I usually use a stiffer rod could not get a good hook set. I had twenty fish I hooked get off.

I really like ultra lights
Could be what you are used to? Or a short striking blowout day,no expert here!
I use nothing but UL rods and have no problems hooking fish and keeping them on.
Medium for crappie is overkill, IMO. I don't even use medium rods for bass.
My bad. Shoulda read med light. I use a rod with backbone all the action is in last 1/3 of rod.Quote:

If you ever read the Bream forum, several members (LedHed, Alphahawk, prankster) catch some nice fish on UL rods. I have caught bass and carp up to 7# and lots of 8-10# cats on my UL rods.Quote:
