With all the technology these days you would think the sonar makers would come up with a wireless transducer to eliminate all the cable routing problems on the i pilot type trolling motors ..anyone know if this would be possible ?

Wireless xducer technology has been out for years ...

It just never has advanced into the higher end unit setups ...

Yes it is possible, but security would be a problem. Might loose all your waypoints to the the idiot at the ramp.

Yea I was aware of that little green duccer ...I was talking about wireless for the high end sonars like the HDS models

That would really solve problems with the new trolling motors.
Question in my mind is : can the signal/data be transmitted from 1-2' under the water wirelessly ?? The little HB RSS thingy sits on the surface, doesn't it ?? So, in essence, it's transmitting data thru the AIR (out of the top of the tdx), and not from beneath the water's surface.
Bluetooth & Wi Fi signals are hindered by water, which is why most all of the wireless depthfinder thingies float.
I really don't mind the wired transducer, however I am looking forward to Blue tooth or Wifi so we can quit pulling ethernet cables all over the boat!
I am hoping for only 2 wired transducers one front and back. All the rest being handled wifi or blue tooth.
Also no need for nmea network for motor data, one of the motor companies already offer bluetooth to your phone.
