Just getting into crappie fishing and the stick marsh will be where I go. Not sure when the crappie bite starts here. I was told it needs to get colder first.any info would be greatly appreciated. I will be using a boat so I'm not limited to the shore. Thanks in advance
I have heard the same thing about it needing to get colder for crappies. BUT I have been fishing lake Monroe for well over a month now. Air temp was still in the 80's and water temp was in the 70's. And caught fish. I would tell you to start going now and talk to people you meet there. I have learned a lot by doing just that. Good luck and tight lines.
Two years ago we started catching crappie here (Harney/Monroe) in mid September, last year bout the same, this year Hurricane messed everything up.

They have been biting pretty good for the last month. Northern 1/3 of the Farm Pond. They are not schooled, catch one here and one there. Have to keep moving. Bite is over by 11:00 AM, go early. I will be there tomorrow and probably Friday.
