Monday (11-20) lake Monroe
Got to the ramp at 6:30. It was 45 deg out. I'm glad I brought an extra jacket.
My friend Bill joined me and we headed out. There was a brisk wind from the NNE so I headed over to the OPP. We moved in close to shore and set up. The wind took us out into the lake at a nice clip.
We were set up to both push and pull the rods. It wasn't long before one of the front rods goes off and Bill helps land a nice keeper. It has been years since Bill has been speck fishing and he was impressed with the size of the fish (13 incher). Then after that it was my turn to help net the fish. Two more into the live well and two go back to grow up some. We took turns with the action, first Bill would catch a few, then I would catch some.
When the action slowed to nothing, we pulled the rods and made another pass. We made three passed and then the wind shifted and the fish quit playing. So we packed it up and headed in.
We ended the day with 9 nice keepers and bent the rods 15 times in all. Bill said that he had a good time. He went home with all the keepers to show off to his wife. I got an invite over for a dinner and I don't have to clean any fish... I had a good day too.
