My MinnKota 330D is 7 years old now and doing fine. I only unplug it when I go fishing rest of time its plugged up 24/7. No problems...I have had several different brand chargers through the years and so far this one does the best job. Have you tried switching bank leads to be sure you have a bank out and not a bad battery?
I have 2 MK460 and both have lost 2 banks, one not blowing the fuse and shorting the battery out and killing it. Won't go with MK again.
yeah i switched them around, cranking battery went out on me on the lake even though it was green when i unplugged charger that morning, got home went and got new battery and now it reads red, checked fuses, switched banks and the number three stayed red so i called minn kota, i didnt register it so we went off my bank statement and it said i purchased in mid october, 2014, guy named bob said he would talk to them but called back and left a message the next day saying "it wasnt close enough to the warranty expiration so nothing they could do, G i'm glad that your charger is still working but mine is not and i feel that a man should get more than three years out of a three hundred plus dollar onboard charger, now my question is does anyone have any recommendations on other brands on three bank onboard chargers?
reese what did u go with? i thought of going back to the dual pro that came with my ranger back in 99, it lasted until 2014.
this problem is pretty widespread, on bassboat central there is a 24pg thread with guys chiming in about there mk chargers going bad
Haven't done anything yet, but will have to before spring. They both are in the boat, one up front with the cart batts for the trolling motor, it dropped the second bank about 3 weeks ago and the other in the back on the cranking batt and the electronics batt, using it as a 2 back. Getting rid of these two will reduce weight pretty good, these are the older ones and weigh about 80 lbs each. Up in the air right now which way I will go.
NOCO Genuis. Dang good charger and a lot cheaper than MK. Check Walmart online for best pricing. Having done a little research on those MK's losing banks best I can determine is they have a temp sensor inline that goes out. I think it could be replaced if you knew where to get the part. But so far I haven't found it. I Ree's case on that one something else went bad internally to over charge battery.
