Salt Water Specks

After 18 months, I went fishing again. I went Friday night near the mouth of the Elizabeth River--salt water. I caught several speckled trout and quit counting after 10. Also caught 3 stripers about 19". Fished for 3 hours, at the last of the incoming tide. Water temp was 65*. I searched from 25FOW to 4FOW and most fish were shallow, less than 8' deep. Only caught one keeper, and that was a trout about 17" long. He went back in the drink, because he was all alone and still kicking. I threw SW Assassin in Chicken on a chain color, and blue/silver glitter 4" Fin-S.Since I am on a roll, I will probably go chase the correct specks this week/end sometime.Thanks to Flatwater for the push.

Nice! I went Thur, fri and Sat. Limit, limit and skunk, The wind picked up and I went at night on Sat. for the skunk. The fish wanted anything and were everywhere. Lynn haven, Rudee, Broad Bay and Nasmond river. Attachment 279676

I love fishing for specks, the salt and the fresh. It seems there is a technique that you learn to catch these species. The trout want a twitch, at the right depth. Electric chicken always works in the clean water and root beer in dirty and in the middle then like mood ring purple! They all taste good! I do need to get going on the crappie and leave salt water alone, it eats everything it touches and the crowds are becoming unreal. fish ran from 17 to 21 inches.

Hey, Jim.

The small guys have moved out of my hole. The water temp dropped to 53* the last time I went, on Thursday night. Bigger ones are still around, I caught them at 20" on my last two trips.
