Lake Russell 10/18

Went with Stanley and his son in law Andy on Wednesday out on Lake Russell. Water was turning which meant lotsa foam, tea colored and had some stank to it. Water temps 72-74 deg F in BDC creek. We initially dropped minners over brush, then finished out the mid day trolling. Both methods about equally effective. Caught about 15 crappie, several kitty kats and several gar. The gar sure made a mess of things. Nice to be out on the water after a while. Looking forward to the lake temps coming down. Looks like some good rain to roll in Sun-Tues. Like 4-6 inches worth. Wonder if the lake levels will go up or down??

Russel usually stays at a constant level. If we get enough rain to make the lake rise, it will usually will go on to the hill. Thank you for the report, bdc is my favorite also.

Glad you were able to get out and bring home enough to stink up the grease

The lake water being that warm you wouldn’t think it would be turning over but it seems to turn over about this time of the year every year. Hopefully the rain will make some stained water. Thanks for the Russell report and congrats on your catch.

You are so right about the gar. I usually tangle with one or more each trip there. Their numbers seem to be increasing and they love both minnows and jigs! :puke

Atleast 5" of rain here today. Atleast that's all my guage holds.;) I'm 5 minutes away from BDC and 15 minutes away from the lake. With that much rain in such a short time I'm sure the creek is WAY out of it's banks and will be carrying ALOT of trash towards the lake.
