I am thinking about skipping out on the deer woods this weekend and fishing instead. I am familiar with Jack Nolan, but am not sure if a man will be able to do much good spider rigging there. I am just wondering if anyone has tried it out there and if so, what where the results?
Sorry I didn't reply earlier, that's around my neck of the woods. I usually can't even put my boat in jack Nolan without getting hung up on a stump. I would think spider rigging would be pretty tough

No problem. I can be at the boat ramp in about 5 minutes. I know what you mean about the stumps! I just trim up and take it slow if I headed to the dam, otherwise it’s a trolling game. I know there are plenty of crappie in there but don’t know where to start. I know blue mountain like the back of my hand just not jack Nolan. It’s just too convenient to not learn it!

I see where there are Saugeyes in there . What can you tell us about quality , types , and sizes of fish there ?
Well I’ve not got much info. It is stumpy, but I? only post 4-5 jigs in one area because I? hit a high brush pile. I’ll count that as a win for spider rigging. I? fished 6 rods for about 2.5 hours with no luck. Got a few light bites. Then I? jigged the standing timber and even used minnows. Never caught a single fish. I? could see them on the graph, but couldn’t get them to bite.

I grew up on Jack Nolan and we used to catch some good crappie out there around the old pond about 10-15 years ago. I would shoot for the dam around the spill way or there is a couple “channels” that you can run your boat and not hit anything.

Nimrod to answer your question about Saugeye I haven’t fished it much in 10 years but we used to catch them fairly regular on spinnerbaits bass fishing and they were all about 15-18 inches long and boy some good eating but I would question if there was a growing population of them.
