new to night fishing
Seems I do not get much daylight time to fish. With time change coming I need to set up for night fishing. Can anyone give me some ideas on gear? Do i float the light or sink the light? I have water that ranges from 5 to 35 feet. What works better shallow or deep?

From what I've heard , you can either suspend the light very close to the surface , or submerge them to no more than 8'. The submersion depth in tannin stained water would likely need to be shallow , so you can see it as well. The fish will move shallow at night , but from the shore , getting to them can be challenging at times. I tried a nearby lake one night , and directed a light at the water , which was about 5' deep , and caught 2 that were 9 and 12 inches , respectively. However , this was around 4:30 in the morning , and during the summer.
