Decatur report

I fished a couple evenings at Decatur last week. caught lots of small bass around the 31 causeway but nothing big. i decided to catch some shad and go to the barge tie offs on the right side of the river headed towards cowford . caught some small spots and small mouth. Switched to another tie off and caught a nice small mouth and a spot and broke off on 3 fish (6lb old line) had to leave. Went back Thursday and could only catch 4 shad . Caught 1 good small mouth ans a good spot and 2 smaller fish. No takers on artificial bait. Hope to catch more shad next time

Nice spots and Smallie were you fishing just past the railroad trestle in that big slough

Started out in there under the bridge. The barge tie offs are just past the railroad bridge on the right hand side headed from the boat harbor going down river. There are 5 or 6 and they are right on the river Chanel . I fished the ones that did not have a barge tied off to them. Caught a 5 lb large mouth on a jig there last year.

I got to get up there and catch some smallmouth. Looks fun

Those are some good healthy looking fish. Congrats!! Those smallies and spots pull like crazy.
